Wai Hing LAU / Katy
Born in 1996, Hong Kong, currently works and lives in South London
My artistic approach is a dynamic dialogue between the tangible and the abstract, where each brushstroke captures the energy of nature and its quiet resonance within the human spirit. I blend traditional Chinese painting techniques with a contemporary sensibility, creating works that invite contemplation on both personal and collective histories, often emphasizing the fleeting beauty of the natural world.
My creative process unfolds as an intimate conversation with the organic world. Each stroke becomes a conduit for connection and reflection, translating nature’s rhythm and vitality into visual expressions. I embrace both structure and spontaneity—honoring tradition while allowing space for improvisation. This interplay between the seen and the unseen, the past and the present, defines the essence of my artistic journey.
